Android Central Question

I have unlocked Galaxy S9+/SM-G965U on Straighttalk/T-mobile sim. Mobile signal near 0 at home, switched just to use the wifi calling. All phone provisions/settings are there & on. Get mobile calls/sms/mms/internet (all very slow at home w/call drops). However, device still shows "IMS not registered"/wifi calling no worky. Been on the phone w/Straighttalk lots, even tried T-mobile, yah right. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Correct, no 1 in the model #. Build # is R16NW.G965USQU3BRJ5, if that helps. Thanks for the reply. Chris
Hi, Welcome Chris !

I know TMobile I have WiFi calling , but straight talk I'm not sure could be them . Your phone is carrier unlocked so whatever sim u put will dictate what gets put on .

It's a Straighttalk sim for unlocked Tmobile phone, from their BYOP kit. Had their at&t sim in it 1st, but same, no signal at home AND no possibility of wifi calling. I'm assuming then that it's something on Tmobile's, or still Straighttalk's end. Great, this outta be fun, ef even possible. Thanks for reply.

Update... tried everything... some things AGAIN. Toggle radio/mbl data/airplane/device, all that bs. Also tried wipe cache partition, network reset, several Tmobile apn's (which ALL seem to work??), & even the dreaded factory reset (with SIM in) after extensive backup. Still... "IMS Registration Status, IMS Not Registered", with all provisioning/settings for wifi calling existent & ON. They (Straighttalk) are sending me a new Tmobile SIM. I'll post an update after... hope it works, otherwise I'm tryin my luck with a ph call to Tmobile. I'm sure that will be productive.

IMS Registration can't be done?... 2nd update... Got/installed new ST/T-mobile sim. Still no IMS Registration. Figured as much, the sim they sent had an 11/20 use by, mine was a 10/21. So, sim not the problem. ST said they couldn't do any more, call Samsung or T-mobile. So I did, but not in that order. T-mobile tech said (thank you T-mobile, they probably coulda hung up.), all good on their end, must be HW problem w/device. So, then, Samsumg said it should be working, but that my device is still under warranty, & take to nearest UbreakIfix for evaluation. Closest 1 is 70 miles. For now, no wifi calling. It's not over yet...

Update. Still researching, but I found ALL this interesting... this device, does have a code to dial into dialer that enters service mode, *#0011#, also found very few others that work on this device. However, I can't find any info on input codes once I get there, & not sure about goin there anyway! Also learned a little about CSCs & Odin, & have moved to trying to flash TMB firmware, which apparently, will not work either A) because I'm not fresh booting with a REAL T-Mobile sim in after flash, or B) my device's current CSC setup, XAA/XAA/ATT (from about phone>software info>service provider sw ver.), is locked? Tryin to get my hands on a T-Mobile sim. May have to root first. I've read there is a new way for these phones which retains factory bootloader, but gives root... anybody?

That XAA is unlocked model SM-G965U1 not SM-G965U sim unlocked ...so Att sim won't show IMS register mine doesn't. but Tmobile sim should.

Hope I did that right. Tryin to upload a screenshot of dialing *#1234#. No "1" following "U". I did read however, that I may have to flash the "U1" firmware for this to work. I'll try that only if the Tmobile sim don't work.
