How is it different. Is there any online info that discusses this?
When I was researching yesterday I found an answer from Asus stating there was no difference between the tablets.

One has a slide in connector to the wall plug and the other is a single piece

The new charger has the slide on plug so the EU can have their style without having to make a whole new charger or using a wonky adapter. The cable is 5' long not sure if its the same or not.

Not sure about it being brown. Does anyone know what on it will be brown? I bought a case so not to worried about it but still wasnt sure if the back is brown or what. Can't wait to get on Tuesday.

I'm wondering about the color myself. The original 16gb Transformer does not have a black back, its more bronze colored. I wonder if brown is the same.

They are saying the back color is brown. But it is the same color as the -A1.

What I want to know about is this different sensor they are talking about.

If there is an "added" sensor its invisible. I have torn down 3 X1 versions of the transformer for parts to fix others A1 units and all the parts so far have been interchangeable without issue. It maybe that one of the sensors is different some how that is not externally distinguishable.

Bought Transformer from BB for $399 two days before sale started. When purchased, I asked specifically, if the price dropped would I be eligible for price adjustment. Was told "No Problem, just bring in the receipt". Price dropped; I took in receipt. Was told not eligible for price adjustment because the $299 sales item is different model (TF101-X1) than the one I purchased for $399. They were firm, and inflexable. I proceeded to buy the $299 sales unit (supposedly TF101-X1). Told them I would just return the $399 unit after transfering data to the new unit. Got home, checked out the model number on the box. It is not a TF101-X1; it is, in fact a TF101-A1, which is exactly the same as the $399 model we purchased prior to the sale. (The color is exactly the same.)

Based on my experience, I do not believe there is an X1 model; instead, I think this is just a model number used in advertising, to stop and/or discourage customers who paid full price from coming back for a cost adjustment when products go on sale shortly after they purchase them at full price.

Personally I think this practice is unethical. If anyone has ever seen an X1 model please let me know.

That's what I figured. Not really sure about unethical though, although they should have been more careful with what they ssaid.

To me its odd to think of it in the same realm with ethics at all. Why would selling even the same thing to someone else for a different price warrant the need to return money to a previous buyer? The fact that they offer a price match benefit is in no way suddenly a civil right. If they need to change models to be able to offer a sale for a limited time or to just reduce it and not face losing tons of profit I see nothing ethical or unethical about it.

I agree that the price guaranty is not a right...but the ethical part comes when they openly advertise the price match benefit as an incentive to purchase it now from them instead of waiting for a better deal from some other store or their own store later! Then they circumvent their own price guarranty by changing the stock number!

If it was just a regular price drop, I would agree, but they changed the number for a Black Friday sale. Its kind of different in my opinion.

    unethical legal definition

Not in accordance with the moral standards customarily followed in a business or professional relationship.

CRZY: This has nothing to do with Black Friday! In my case this has happened in the past four days.
However, it is an advertised sale item, but it is not distinquished in any manner as being different than the A1. The question is, is there really an X1 model? If so is it truly different?

ZEDORDA: If a business has a stated policy, or if a business' (or their legal representative) state their policy is to adjust the purchase price of a product down to match any price reduction of that product, occuring within a specific time period, that is a legal contract. If that business then changes the name of the same product, and offers it at a reduced price, and will not honor previous buyer' requests (within the stated time period) for a price adjustment, then I think the case could be made that the action would not only be unethical, but possibly illegal.

    I agree with JOKOUT!

The X1 model started with Black Friday. The ones they're selling now are either leftovers or extras. I'm sure there's some legal, as well as ethical wiggle room, but I also understand what you're saying. If I were you I would just bring the original back and take care of it that way. Not worth getting worked up about a probably pretty common business practice.

Personally I hate the store. Try to do as little business with them as possible. I was spoiled by my time on the west coast with Fry's

The BB website showed there wasn't a single one available at a store in the Twin Cities. Friday night I walked into my nearest store, and they had all kinds of them sitting under the display table. Someone asked if I needed help, and I said it was listed at $299 on the webpage, and asked if they would match that. He said that would be no problem. I grabbed on, walked to the checkout, showed her the item on my phone and she made the override. No issues at all.

My sister had the same experience at a different Twin Cities location.

cbill. I feel for ya. I bought mine on Black Friday at the $399.00 price. I too explicity asked about a price drop and would I get a refund (I'm thinking this will happen with release of prime). They said that I would basically have to do a return and purchase at the discounted price. I thought a little hassle but I would get discount.

Actually what happened, went to store, told them about website price, they looked it up...said no problem and issued me the $100.00 credit and all at a Best Buy where I did not even purchase the unit.

It's pretty sad when you go to a big chain like this can't get the same story out of all of them....

There is an X1 model, and I have the box to prove it. The reason BB used a X1 was for black Friday purposes. BB did not want other retailers to price match them so they got a special sku from Asus. BB and other retailers do this every year to get you in the door with 'exclusives'.

That's exactly what he's saying. There is an X1 model # on the box, but the Transformer inside that box is no different with no different model # on it

Duh. I was watching the BB website for days but every single store in the twins cities was out of the X1. I stopped at a Best Buy in Coon Rapids, and they didn't have any 16GB models in stock (A1 or X1). I guess I checked the wrong store.
