Performance problems with Asus Transformer Pad TF300T

I've had a positive experience with JellyBean, the only thing that should have been improved was how long the launcher stays in memory.

Other than that, haven't had problems with stock.

I had problems when I updated from 4.1 to 4.2 but then I did a cold boot and it seemed to fix the problems

doing a factory reset will fix the problem of hdmi cable and battery drainage this is a google problem atleast that is what asus told me..i did factory reset and i did it correct according to master help files and it didnt solve the 4.2.1 issues...

I know, I was highly disappointed. But at least I feel better about it. But the SOD is still there.

ASUS Transformer TF300T: So did your Factory Reset fix the battery drain AND the HDMI problem? These are the two issues that have occurred as a result of 4.2.1.

The tech person trying to fix these two issues is saying there is a risk of bricking if they put on the version of firmware to go from 4.2.1 back to the factory installation of 4.1.1. Can you provide details of what you did?

Hi,
I got the transformer tf300t as a present and I was so impressed with its smoothness...
2 weeks ago, when I started it the updates informed me that android 4.2.1 is available and I proceeded with the update... what a mistake... First of all I cannot stand the interface, the access to settings and the way you could play with the wifi and gps switches is gone now, you need to dig deep to find stuff like that, but then even worse, the tablet switches off non-stop every 2-3 minutes, no matter the apps I am using... I am not into android at all, it is my first experience - I am not a Mac person either, but this made me put the tablet in a drawer and forget about it...
I would love to roll back to 4.1 but I see everyone says it is not recommended/possible... otherwise i'll let is hibernate till a better system is available...

By the way, I did try the factory reset, doesn't calm down the spontaneous shut down!

Welcome to Android Central! I agree, the 4.2 launcher doesn't really make sense for a tablet that's used in landscape orientation for the most part. You know that you can easily switch back to the original 4.1 launcher by going to Settings/Launcher, right?

As for instability, check for any additional system updates that might still be waiting for you after the main upgrade to 4.2.1. There was at least one small update that arrived after the 4.2.1 update, which might address some of the instability issues. I would also suggest disabling Chrome, which I found to bog the system down--I prefer the stock Browser anyway. Disable Asus Sync as well, if you don't use it--that also seemed to cause slowdown.

I was having all sorts of issues with my TF300T after the Jelly Bean 4.2 update: unresponsive touch screen, excessive battery drain, spontaneous shutdown, etc. I have tried the factory reset multiple times, and the tablet would always seem better for a few days / weeks after the reset, but would eventually start to freeze up, reset, etc. I contacted Asus and was told it was either a battery issue, a motherboard issue, or both and that I'd need to send it in for repairs.

Not wanting to spend as much on repairs as I initially spent on the tablet, I decided to keep experimenting with settings and found that reverting to the Jelly Bean 4.1 launcher [Settings -> Launcher] resolved all the issues I had been experiencing. I definitely preferred the 4.2 launcher, but I'll live with the 4.1 launcher if it means that my tablet actually works.

I hope this helps someone else out there - it drove me crazy for months!

reverting to the 4.1 launcher solved all the problems of freezes i experienced on almost all my apps (chrome / dolp^hin / drive etc .) on my Asus TFT300T for months.
Why did you let that happen Asus ???

I'm new to the forum and playing catch up, so please bear with me. I've had the tf300t for a while now it was great at first. Loved everything about it, even the JB upgrade. Just inthe past week it's been freaking out. The main problem is audio shutting down. Not jus music but all audio. Notiications, touch sounds, music, all of it. I think it hss something to do with an app, but can't put my finger on it. If
someone has come up with a better solution than "reset" or "bricking" please let me know.

I just tried going back to the 4.1 and it lasted about 20 minutes. Then the audio shut down again. HELP!!!

When I had my TF300 (I traded it in), it updated automatically to 4.2.2. I'm not really sure about doing a manual installation. You could check out their support page, but the firmware there specifies the "JP SKU," which I think means a Japanese version. Hi

I bought the transformer tf300t used. After testing it out . there was an update from 4.1.1 to 4.2. I applied the update. Since I didn't know previous performance, I thought I bought a lemon. When first starting after being down a few days, its to busy checking updates to let you do anything... start gmail and you get a message "Gmail is not responding, wait, report or close" I found if you wait , it will open but it will be some time until it sync's your email. Open Chrome or virtually any other application, its the same thing... I installed memory managers, sweepers, still the same problem... I am an ASUS fan, I exactly wanted a transformer... and starting to hate it. I noticed if you start it and let it sit about 30 minutes, it works better.... my facebook notifications seemed to be holding everything up, so I uninstalled facebook.. didn't help much. Then I thought maybe it was only when fully charged... wrong again.

When scrolling through settings I saw a "launcher" selection. I opened it and it asks you are currently 4.2 would you like to return to 4.1.1? Why not. It boots with the old system... and whalla. It runs like an ASUS. 4.2 doesn't have many advancements... so if your transformer is stalling... back it down to 4.1.1.

My worst thought was it had hardware problems... I am not used to a tegra CPU...
