Google Play Store Stopped

I am getting the message "Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped" when clicking on app. Have reviewed other forums but haven't seen anything on ASUS.
I have a Transformer Pad TF300T running Android 4.2.1, with Google Play Store 4.1.10 (just updated to it. I was getting the same message with 4.1.6). Have tried clearing Cache and Data without any success. Not ready to do a Factory reset. Any other suggestions? What about other apps that do the same?

Have you rebooted the tablet yet? Or cold booting it?

Yes, it was shut down over night. No improvement. I have also removed updates and reinstalled factory version. Again nothing.

Did you force stop it at any time?

If only we alone could fix our devices without voiding the warranty... :-/ Custom recoveries are a must.
