I am considering moving to Android from WindowsPhone. From a Lumia 930 to Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML version). Good move?

It all boils down to the battery experience you had with your last device, coz other than battery , there is no comparison with zf2 with 4gb. You can get 1 day with average usage in zf2.

Well...you'll get access to Android apps, including Google services. That, and storage space, are the only advantages I see. Screen is a big step backward, camera is a massive step backward, overall fit and finish is a step backward.

Hum. I really care about imaging/photography capabilities and variety of upto date apps. Been on WindowsPhone on and off for 3 yrs now and feel like I need a change... but happy to be wrong.

I live in the UK. The only Zenfone 2's being sold seem to be Chinese/Taiwanese versions converted to WW firmware.

Now I am not sure what to do.

If you care about imaging, you will NOT be happy with the ZenFone 2. On Amazon you should be able to buy WW variants without a problem...and the US variants actually have more LTE bands than the WW versions anyway.

Coming from Windows Phone myself (HTC 8X and then Lumia 925 on Three), I would say go for it if you're there for the apps and Google services. Even if you're a heavy MS apps user, most Microsoft Android apps are still good enough. Just pure guessing since I've never used a 930 before - the performance should be at least slightly better on the ZF2 given the gigantic RAM and faster processor. (Though Android generally feels a bit laggy compared to WP.) The camera on ZF2 is way ahead of those from the same price range but nowhere near Lumia's. If that's what you care about, then don't make the move. Should be good enough for day-today use if you're not a heavy shooter. Most shots are decent enough for me but it's your choice

Regarding the versions, not sure about China but Taiwanese carriers use mostly the same LTE bands as UK carriers from what I know while US bands are generally different so a Taiwanese version might be a good idea. Check first though.

So far with moderate use I have 53% left after starting at 8am to now, 9:30pm which isn't bad, but it mostly was just pulling email, some calls, and speed tests so. But they do have a quick charge built into the phone so that is helpful.

    Dear all,

Thanks for the advice. I have ordered the device and look forward to at least trying it out. If I don't like it, will just sell it on eBay/Gumtree

Any news? How is your Zenfone 2? I'm curious as I'm about to buy one myself.
