How can I get my Asus Zenpad to turn on?

My Asus Zenpad wouldn't turn on

I discovered this

on the forum. It worked. Now I'd like to know WHY it worked!

I'm not sure why volume up+power would have fixed the device. But glad to hear it's fixed and hopefully no further issues.

I tried vol+ an on button and nothing. was working and battery and connected to unplugged USB cord and battery ran down. connected correctly and device will not turn on .
