All that I done was update my Play services on that came out last week.
Then Wednesday night I held the home button to bring up the Google on tap and the assistant showed up finally.
The Google Assistant getting activated is definitely tied to your Google account. I had switched to my other Google account and the old system was there. Then when I switch back the Google Assistant was there again.

Great news. I finally got it. I read in the galaxy S7 EDGE forums to check the settings in Google for it. I did, and there it was on both my S7 edge and axon7.

I'm disappointed with 1 thing. When I asked it to play a song from my music library, it went to TuneIn Radio first, then to Google play music. I'd like to correct this.
