My NC can't install or upgrade apps

A few days ago, I began noticing a Low on space warning on my notification bar, even though my free internal memory is listed at 3.91 gigs free and 3.69 GB free on my SD card. Even so, upgrading or downloading apps from my market isn't working. It will list updates and such but will become stuck at "Starting download" and not progress past that. I'm running rooted Stock 1.1.0. Any thoughts?

I am pretty sure 2.1 can only support apps in memory (not on the SD card) and that memory is much smaller than the internal storage the 5 GB. What happens if you delete some apps?
