Bottom of the screen not responding in Touchnooter rooted

Installed Touchnooter 1.6.24, and most of it seems to be working, but any button on the very bottom of screen doesn't respond. The very bottom of the screen is where Android Market, Add, and Slideme decided to put terms of service and finish buttons. Can't install anything. The Nook wakeup slider, which occupies the same space on the very bottom, works fine. The space immediately above the very bottom works fine.

The only thing I can think to try next is setting up to use adb to install remotely.

1. Is there any way to shrink the screen space, or move buttons? Is there another android version I can try that might work better?

2. Is there another way to start an apk file? Gmail works, so I can download an attachment, but every apk I've tried so far just returns an error that it can't open.
