I have had mine for a little over 2 yrs and my battery gets to about 50-40% and then just dies. When I plug it in, it says its at 40%. Is it also true that leaving your phone plugged in is bad for the battery? I used mine like an MP3 player at work so I keep it plugged in until I go on break or go home.

It depends on how many times you have charged and discharged it, full charges, partial charges. 2 years or so with pretty heavy use will be the typical lifespan. I would get a new battery and rock on with your device.

spot on. i would add environmental conditions and temperatures, these will have great impact on battery lifespan.
