Battery losing charge while plugged in

My nexus 5, running 4.4.4, is about a year old by now. The battery only holds 1400mAH, which is fine with my portable chargers - or it was, until a few days ago. Recently, while plugged in (1A, 2A, makes no difference) and in use, the battery very slowly depletes. I installed Ampere to investigate, and the app registers an average gain of about 350mA (presumably the 1.2A charge rate minus ~800mA of use) while plugged in and in use... Even as the power bar slowly goes down.
Anyone have any experience with this? It's incredibly frustrating to only be able to charge while the phone is powered off. I've ordered a replacement battery, but I don't know if that'll actually help.
Thanks!

Re: Battery losing charge while plugged in

Welcome to Android Central! Does the phone say it's charging via AC or USB even when plugged into a wall outlet? If it says USB, then maybe there's a problem with the wall plug. Have you tried different plugs?
