Recently wiped my HTC Desire 601 and after it was finished, the battery life has been shortened by a lot. I put the phone in airplane mode and closed all apps that were running and the battery drained from 50% to 18% in 10 minutes.

Checked the battery details in Settings and noticed that the Android System is taking up 90% of the battery. I'm running on KitKat version 4.42

    Any solutions to fix this?

    Welcome to AC.

There must be something wrong with the battery, for it to drain so much in so short a time. Can you get it tested?

Or restart the phone in safe mode first (see how to use safe mode on the HTC Desire 601 through the hardware keys | MobiAny ) with a fully charged battery and see if it still drains that quickly. (If it recharges very quickly, you might have a dendrite in the battery - the only remedy is replacing it. See Lithium Battery Dendrite links to learn what it is and why it can't be "fixed" yet.)
