I'm writing an RSS notifier app that uses Android's push notifications and PubSubHubbub to let you know when a blog is updated without your phone needing to poll for updates. The program doesn't even need to be running while you wait for an update, so it doesn't use your valuable memory.

You can download the beta at http://rssenal.com

The feed has to support PubSubHubbub, but almost everything does now, and if it doesn't, you can create a feedburner feed as a wrapper.

I'd love to hear any feedback you have, be they bugs or UI suggestions, etc.

The latest version is in the market now. Might want to install it that way so that you can get updates automatically.

just downloaded RSSenal 0.3.2 from the market/play, selected my google account, press next, RSSenal has been displaying 'Connecting...' for five minutes now.

I force stopped it and tried again with the same results.

ICS, motorola RAZR MAXX

Looks like a promising app. Let me know if there's something I've missed.

Thanks,
Shawn

hmm,

I just sent an email to Developer email address listed in GooglePlay for this app and it bounced. The domain name is not registered.

I'm playing it safe, assuming the worst, and have uninstalled the app.
It dissapoints me that Google doesn't automatically remove apps that have non-functional developer contact.

Hopefully this is an honest (very careless) mistake, and a working version of RSSenal will be forthcoming.
