there is a guide stickied on what is safe to remove, and he states the browser is safe to do so if it is replaced.

i did and eventually my voice search quit working and i kept getting a force close!!!

luckily i didnt remove it just froze it, as soon as i unfroze it, and rebooted it worked perfectly again!

I froze mine and replaced it with Opera mini and everything still works fine.

well it worked a few days for me then i got it, so did 1 out of 3 of my friends. i hope it was just us

I too had this problem, using dolphin as my replacement browser. I would get force close when using voice web search. Unfroze browser and everything works fine again.

BTW, the thread title is kind of vague. You can root just fine without any attention of freezing the browser. Warning should be about freezing the browser instead of about rooting. But it's 2am and I'm just cranky lol
