Well if they followed any of the previous goers in their approaches, nope they'd be sunk in no time.
I'm sure if someone would be interested would look at the whole package and see what could be approved upon.

From my perspective it's because they all seem to end up pissing the end users off by NOT delivering on promises or not delivering at all. Doesn't take long for non-end user to get wind of it too so if they were potential buyers, they for sure aren't now. Can write a book on the things BlackBerry Ltd, TCL/BBMo, Optiemus, and so on, failed on bringing to their customers.
Perhaps because, once they get into it, they realize they can’t because the user base isn’t there.
I don’t know, everyone makes it sound like it’s so easy to start up a multimillion dollar corporation, or even add a new product to an existing one, as if these devices will sell themselves at a huge profit. These companies are not out to lose money. Most vkb devices don’t make money and they are selling hundreds of millions. The money is in selling apps, data, accessories etc. from what I can see.

I guess I’m just having a hard time seeing it.
What data makes you think there is?
I’m someone who looks at things realistically, not based on hopes and dreams. If you could show me something that makes sense I might be more willing to believe it.
The KEY phones undersold compared to what TCL may have needed to make a profitable business.

But they still somewhat sold, a few estimates are about 1.5M devices altogether between all three KEY phones.

That's 1.5M potential people who could buy someone else's PKB device. And that's not counting those who didn't like TCL's KEY phones but would buy another, say like a Nokia E series revival phone.

I don't care about the keyboard trying to be mainstream again because it won't.

I just want PKB phones to sell enough for the company who makes them so that they continue to make them.

Even if it's a single device every two years or so.

Am i REALLY asking for too much?

    I really don't feel like I am.

Slabbers have thousands of slabs to choose from.

We just want one or two keyboard options for us to keep typing on...

I think the main issue is there isn't a market big enough to make a profit.
Yeah... everybody likes glass slabs now! (Myself included. But you know what I mean.)

Naw I doubt everyone thinks business ventures are easy yet to win some you got to lose some first. And going by my perspective TCL/BBMo did their darndest to keep potential buyers away... Overpricing, delays, colour variants that went MIA at launch, premiums for colour choice, making certain handset hard to get, variant getting the cold shoulder on the support front, blah blah blah. Essentially they kept driving away the "other" crowd that could possibly have made their venture viable enough but we'll never know if that were true or not.

Well I know one person who bought a million of them so that only leaves 500,000 for everyone else.

The next big thing will (probably) be foldables so we will be moving even further away from pkb’s.

I don't see how foldables are further away from PKB's than standard slabs.

If it doesn't have a PKB, then it's away from it lol

This dream that a PKB phone is going to come back from the dead anytime soon has no merit.
That's not what I said anyway.

The current technology keeps advancing. We’re not going to go backwards. That’s my point.

Who said incorporating a keyboard HAS to be considered "going backwards" ?

It sure isn't on computers and as tablet attachments...

    The market.
Again, when you give me hard data that people want a PKB device and not what the entire market has moved to and continues to develop I will take this more seriously.

True, even the KEYone which has the best camera ever put on a Berry will not be in the same ballpark of even the Pixel 2 XL.

If you enable haptic feedback with vibration duration of 30ms - 40ms and use Gboard or BlackBerry keyboard, it should be more tolerable.

But still never on the level of real keys.

The camera - that's how they get you!

Also - were you ever on the CrackBerry forums? Your username and picture look familiar.

Long time CrackBerry guy here... for those of you who don't enjoy tire fires, dysfunction and an all out gong show, you don't know what you're missing by not visiting CB!

The TCL news has escalated the level of discourse in the CB forums to complete bedlam and chaos! But I've been a part of that community since 2008 so I'm basically a lifer. Still, it's nice to see how other Mobile Nations communities are reacting to the end of BB handsets where there is less of an emotional attachment.

I'm what you would call an unabashed BB fanboy and am a huge mark who will immediately buy any table scraps that is put out there on the market. The end of new BB handsets presents me with a whole new world of choice now that I'm not automatically locked into buying the newest BB. I'll be lurking around the AC forums a bit more to get a sense of the community vibe.

You will like it. It's a lot less toxic here, even though a few CB characters may pop in from time to time. But most are disarmed, with no special privileges or status. At least so far. Once CB finally winds down all bets are off.

I've left BB few years back and converted my wife from a keyone and key2 to Pixel 2 xl a year ago. The camera on the K2 was horrible. The camera on the pixel 2 xl blew her mind away. She still hates typing on glass but she loves her pixel. Fluid, fast, and amazing camera. BB no more in our family, too many sacrifices for that physical keyboard, we are both over that (I have pixel 3 xl).

I really miss the keyboard shortcuts on my K2, and the speed I can type on it. But I also really love the android experience on my Pixel. Love the call screening feature!!

How long has it been? You'll pick up speed eventually. Understand the shortcut withdrawal

    What pixel do you have?
