Good evening all...so my Priv was on, had about 20% remaining power...so I put my Priv down to charge and confirmed it was charging. I was stuck on the phone (another phone) for about two hours or so. I went back to check on my Priv...and it is "stuck" in the re-boot/start-up mode. It is looping from the logo that appears "BlackBerry Powered By Android" (white lettering on the black screen) to just a black screen as if it were shut down...but it keeps going around and around between the two...so...HELP!

What can I do? How do I shut it down? I am hoping it didn't charge, ran out of juice and doesn't have enough power to fully start. I don't know. I am really worried (OK...scared). I have no idea what to do. It is old, out of warranty, and VZW has not "supported" this device for a long time, so calling them will be of no help.

Any advice? Please. Thank you so very much in advance.

If it ran out of juice just put a charger on it for 45 minutes see what happens, if it doesn't turn off try holding the power button until you feel vibrate or 20 seconds.

To force a shutdown, press and hold Power for about 20 seconds. Then let it charge on a wall outlet undisturbed (I'd say for at least 6 hours), and then try powering on again normally.

I don't know if it ran out of juice. My hopes were that it did, and it did not have enough juice to reboot. However, that could not have been the case. Why? Because if it were out of juice it would have shut down. If it had enough juice to reboot and start up, it would have...however it was caught in the nasty loop I referred to.

I held the power button down, felt the vibrate, and it just kept doing what I already described. I then held the power button down for the 45 second hard reboot or whatever it's called. That didn't help. The device wouldn't shut down! Uggh. More to follow...

So...here's the latest...I was able to hold the power button down for about 60 seconds, and somehow I was able to time letting go of it so that it didn't try and start up again. I am guessing it shut down. I waited, and waited...and then I put it on the charger...while still shut down/turned off...and charged it overnight.

I waited until I got the full green light, and the icon of the batter and 100% appeared on the screen...so...I fired it up like I normally do...

And THANKFULLY ALL IS FINE!!! Thank you very much Mustang and B.Diddy!!!

That's awesome! Hopefully it doesn't happen again, but I'd take this opportunity to make sure all of your important data is backed up or synced somewhere. Who knows, maybe what you were experiencing was an early warning sign of impending hardware failure?
