    Hi all,

I'm looking to purchase a widescreen Android tablet with an OLED display for media consumption (Netflix, YouTube, Hulu etc), and can't stand LCD screens. I get that some LCDs are better than others, but I just don't want one.

I can't seem to find anything more modern than the Galaxy Tab S from 2014. Samsung seems to have embraced the 4:3 aspect ratio, and any tablet manufacturers that are producing widescreen devices are not using OLED screens.

    Am I missing a device?

Nope you are not missing a device.
If at all you can make a concession I would recommend the Huawei MediaPad M3, it's LCD is IPS and is actually quite comparable to my two AMOLED devices - Pixel 2 and LG V30.

    Good luck with your search.

I had similar problem when I was trying to find a widescreen Android tablet. What I found is that there are very few models with 10-inch displays and there was just one attempt by Samsung to release 12-inch tablet (Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 - unfortunately, it is not available anymore). It looks like Android tablet manufactures are mostly releasing 9.7-inch tablets with iPad-like non-widescreen screen ratios. I think this is a mistake as Apple has 9.7, 10.1 and 12-inch tablets all available today.

I assume that's because of disappointing Android tablet sales numbers for recent years as the number of new tablet models releases year-over-year is decresing too. Hopefully, manufactures would realize potential of the Android tablet market and would start producing widescreen and large screen tablets. Yes, tablet sales numbers are dropping for many quarters already, but it looks like the trend is slowly reversing - at least the latest Apple quarterly report shows it.
