Why does my battery percent go down instead of up?

why does my battery percent go down instead of up

My brother got water in my charging port and that night it was charging for 12 hours straight but it usually only chargers for about 3 hours and then today i plug it in at 52% and when i checked it, it went down to 50%

Welcome to Android Central! Does the battery still show a lightning bolt icon, indicating that it's charging? It's usually not good to get water into any of the internal workings of a phone, so it could've done some damage--especially if it was still wet when you plugged in to try to charge up. That might have shorted something out.
