So I went ahead and ordered the Lenovo Chromebook Duet since it just came back in stock at Best Buy. It's been hard to find this anywhere else, and it sold out really quickly at Best Buy initially -- definitely higher demand than they expected. Do I really need this? No, not really, but I think it'd be a nice replacement for my Pixel C, which has been getting pretty laggy of late. And also I just want it, ok?

My Duet arrived a few days early yesterday, and man is it good! Build quality is excellent. Screen is bright and colorful. Performance is snappy on the browser, and even better with Android apps/games (never quite realized how an ARM processor on a Chromebook can make such a difference compared to an Intel in this regard). Keyboard is quite good, despite the cramped punctuation keys on the right side, and the magnetic attachment is very secure. Stereo speakers are a bit tinny but plenty loud.

I think Lenovo did a a bang-up job with this device -- one almost wonders if it was a mistake (given the astonishingly low price) or if the higher ups in the company just let the Chromebook division do whatever it wanted to do. It really is the spiritual successor to the Pixel C (or what the Pixel C was supposed to be in the first place -- a Chromebook), and is now an excellent option for those bemoaning the lack of good Android tablets.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet. Help me, I have a problem! ;)-img_20200626_155955.jpg

Glad you're enjoying it! I've been taking it on a couple of short road trips -- perfect size, and I can play my games on it as well.

I am using mine more as a tablet than a Chromebook and it is quite a challenge. Working in tablet mode in Google docs thus far is a disaster. Has anyone else tried this?

What are the issues you're encountering with Google Docs? Are you using the app or the website?

Personally, I'd never want to use a tablet alone for word processing -- I'd at least want a physical keyboard to use with it.

Very unstable with keyboard. Page shifts from left to right and words are not spacing properly. I would not try to write a thesis on a tablet but for things like what I am doing now it is very convenient. I wrote this on my Galaxy Tab S2.

Ok, I'm still not entirely clear what you mean -- you're using the keyboard, but in tablet mode? I don't think tablet mode can be used while the keyboard is connected and active -- the keyboard has to be folded back or removed to activate tablet mode. And are you using the Google Docs app or website?

Using the Google docs app and have tried both the internal virtual keyboard and Gboard by Google. This is in tablet mode using the keyboard just like you would with a cell phone, like my Samsung Galaxy S10+.

Actually it is not the Google docs app but the web version. There is an internal keyboard that pops up when trying to write in tablet mode. I have been able to use Gboard on some occasions but it is hit or miss. In any event not a satisfactory experience compared with an Android tablet, but this is my only negative thus far.

Thanks for your questions B . Diddy. I actually download Google docs from the play store and problem resolved. It makes a big difference whether in tablet mode you are using an app or the web version. For the tablet mode the apps work much better! Thanks for your assistance!

Oh, I see -- you're talking about the onscreen keyboard. Chrome OS's native onscreen keyboard is one of its weak points. It's much better using the physical keyboard, but I can understand that it's not always convenient to use that.
