I am thinking of getting my grandparents a Chromebook for the Holidays. The computer they use now is old, slow and win xp. They really only do email and news websites so I think it should be a good fit. My question is regarding remote support. Right now on the windows box I use LogmeIn and I can get in and see an error or show them where a button is etc. Is there anything like this for a Chromebook that you have used before? I think this is the deal killer for me on if this will work or not. Thoughts?

Thinking of going with the HP 14" chromebook due to the larger sized screen, I wish it was not an HP though.

Chrome Remote Desktop is what you'll need; I have a HP Chromebook 11 and a Windows 7 PC and had it set-up and running in a few minutes. The CRD app is already on the Chromebook so you will have to install the Chrome browser on your PC and then install the CRD extension for it, and then just follow the instructions.
