Welcome to Android Central! Chromebases have the same basic hardware as Chromebooks. Considering the ongoing advances with Chrome OS (namely, the integration of Android apps into certain Chromebooks) and the speculation that Google is still planning to combine Chrome and Android at some point, I'd say that the future looks good for Chromebases. Google will continue to update them for at least 5 years after their release date. However, it's unclear how many older Chrome OS devices will gain the ability to run Android apps--right now, these are the devices that are slated to run them: https://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-android-apps
