Looks like you can now get Play Store on more devices (got it going on my Hisense Chromebook).

WARNING: Enabling it will power wash your device, so anything you have offline/downloaded etc. back it up if needed.

First, get yourself to the Developer Channel, go to Settings > About Chrome OS and switch the channel to Developer Channel.

People have been saying that it works in Dev Channel, but I think you still need to be in Dev MODE too.

    Try doing this:

1.Hit ctrl + alt + t (pulls up a tab in Chrome Browser that brings up a Terminal)
    2. shell
    3. sudo su -
    4. echo "--enable-arc" > /usr/local/chrome_dev.conf;
    5. mount -o bind /usr/local/chrome_dev.conf /etc/chrome_dev.conf
    6. ctrl + shift + q (shortcut to log out have it hit it twice)
    7. ctrl + shift + q

If you get to step 2 and enter in the the command and it gives you an error (it should just make another command line), then you'll need to enable Developer MODE.

Hit Esc+Refresh+Power - Your chromebook should reboot and come to a OS Verification screen, hit Ctrl+D (maybe twice?), and then it should warn you and are if you are sure, say yes, or whatever to continue through, follow prompts and warnings... blah blah blah... it will update and reboot into Chrome OS again. Now try those commands again...

Now I didn't see any pop-up about the Play Store... but I did see the icon in my taskbar. Once I clicked the icon then it went through the whole setup process/login.

Note: you may need to go into settings to enable google play store.

Try not to reboot your device (just sleep it/close the lid) because every time you reboot you'll have to enter in a couple commands and log in / log out again, commands 1,2,3 and 5.

    1. ctrl + alt + t
    2. shell
    3. sudo su -
    5. mount -o bind /usr/local/chrome_dev.conf /etc/chrome_dev.conf

Doubling posting this (in Chrome OS too for visibility)

Google has been awful quiet on this front. I suspect there will be a major announcement sometime during the 4th quarter.

I imagine we will see more Chromebooks with touchscreens at some point as well.
