I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows 10 installed. I would prefer to change to Chromebook.
as far as I know, you cannot install chrome os on win10 computers.
CloudReady essentially turns a Windows computer into a Chromebook, and in most cases it works well. Updates aren't quite as frequent as on official Chromebooks, but the people at Neverware do update it regularly. The main caveat is that certain CPUs might not be fully compatible -- I found that out the hard way several years ago when I tried converting an old Acer laptop with an AMD CPU. It looked like Chrome OS, but with lots of giant black triangles on the screen. Turns out that AMD CPU wasn't supported, so the laptop was essentially bricked.
It used to be possible to install CloudReady as a dual boot option on Windows machines, but they phased that out: https://neverware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/200542528-Dual-Booting-CloudReady
