Boxy Build, New Game!

Hey Everyone,

We were wondering if you could help us out by giving your opinions on our new game, Boxy Build?

You can find it on the Play Store. (It's surrounded by body building apps because of the name... totally unintended we promise haha!)

The aim of the game is to use the boxes to build as high of a tower as you possibly can, but there are dangerous objects that you have to avoid that could ruin your tower.

At the moment there are exploding boxes, triangles and ice blocks which slide away. All of these you can get rid of by double tapping next to them to use one of your "bubbles", which you get 10 of at the start of the first game.

You gain coins by building up higher and higher, which you can then use to buy more bubbles!

Main screen:
  • App ignores back button
  • No exit/quit button present
Tutorial:
  • Consumes persistent "resources" (bubbles and coins)
  • Mechanics should be clarified
    • Double clicking places a "bubble" (unclear)
    • Clarify how bubbles interact with surrounding blocks
    • Under what conditions do "exploding" boxes detonate?
    • What types of blocks exist, what are their properties?

Pause screen:
  • Get more coins should better communicate it's effect (brings up interstitial ad wall)
  • The ad wall should be dismissible
    • Back does not abort the ad wall
    • No clickable target is provided to abort the ad will
    • May violate Google's ad policy as currently implemented

Buy bubbles screen:
  • Not easily dismissible (dismiss as dialog; back or click event outside of box)
  • Buttons could provide current state information (disabled/enabled based on current coin count)
  • Buttons could provide feedback (color change when pressed or similar)

General:
  • Unusual button behaviour
    • Button fades out completely while pressed
    • Dragging outside the button's view while pressed fades the button back in with black tint
    • Releasing after dragging outside the button's view leaves the view in a "pressed" state (black tint)

Thanks so much! We've been trying to get good, honest feedback like this for ages but haven't been able to get any. We'll take all these things into account for our next update. You've raised some critical points!
