We are devloping a new wearable phone; it has no buttons or screen to save power.
My lead engineer, having used Android OS before says that it is very power hungry, so much so thataht he does not want to use it. I think Android's libraries etc would help us make the phone. How do I counter the argument of "too power hungry"? Is there and Android "light" (not the illumination app) that gives best of both worlds?

There's Android Go - but that doesn't use much less power. If you decide to go with Android as the basis of the phone, you have 2 choices:

    1. Start with Linux (you can redesign that to your heart's content to make it as light as you want), then develop a light-weight Android-type interpreter to run Android apps. The Android Java interpreter uses a lot of power.

    2. Develop a battery technology that can pack 50 Watts or so into something that can fit into the design you're thinking of - lithium batteries aren't small, just light-weight. And the size to power ratio is pretty large.
