Samsung Note 5 screen brightness

I have auto brightness and adaptive display turned off. My screen, when in sunlight, will sometimes go VERY white contrast, then once in shade it will go to normal colors. Anyone know if this is a defective device?

I noticed the same thing today on my Note 5. In bright sunlight, the colours appear to become less saturated/lower contrast - Even when adaptive display is turned off. Also, if I have auto brightness on, it doesn't seem to allow me to adjust the brightness level, it just stays at maximum brightness. I was a bit worried about this, but on other forums it appears that this is a normal function/feature to enhance the visibility of the screen when outdoors.
