Hi Guys...
I'm new to this Android world, so please help me understand it a little better. I want to know whats this big issue with Motorola locking the bootloaders on their devices? I mean what does unlocking do for you?
I hear people root Motorola devices, so what additional benefits do you get from unlocking a boot loader?

Thanks for the help guys

Really what it boils down to though is that there are two types of users.
1) I'm satisfied (or I'll suffer through) with the default software on my phone.
2) I want control and this thing isn't doing exactly what I want.

If you're type 1, a locked bootloader is completely irrelevant to you.
If you're type 2, a locked bootloader is a speedbump on the road to total customization.

A locked boot loader has nothing to do with the ability to root your phone and Android, unlike another fou smartphone I could mention, was built from the ground up with the ability to customize the UI without rooting/jailbreaking.
