I am currently on EE4 and want root access to my Charge to use free wifi/bluetooth tethering. I am looking for a Gingerbread ROM and cool themes to go with it as well. I am also hoping for a setup that I can easily install updated ROMs and create backups. Can someone please point me in the direction of the most up-to-date root method for the Droid Charge? Also if anyone knows of a better way to connect a Charge to a Xoom for data access please let me know. (unlimited data on phone)

    Thanks!

This is a really good tutorial but it is old, so substitute the ROM with the newest version

Another tutorial source that is good too

Another one that may be of help can be found here - this one is a bit heavy on details (and that may be a bit of an understatement ), but if nothing else it has a number of very useful links. That thread is geared towards the eventual flashing of the Froyo GummyCharged ROM, but with some careful thinking and replacement of files (for one example of such thinking and replacement see this post in particular) these steps could be adapted to a Gingerbread ROM as well.

... and if it's too much info, stick with the second guide mentioned above - it's not as thorough on some things (nor does it have the handy reference-thread links) but it should be enough to get you where you need to go.

... I wonder if I should make a thread like that here... hmm...
