Can someone explain the setting or trigger for restricting updates while away from wifi?

I don't want to use up my data on 4G updating any apps.

I only want to update apps when using wifi.

Uncheck automatic updating then check for updates only when your on wifi... Other than that their may be a setting inside the play store settings

Thanks... after some fumbling around... this is the answer I was looking for:
"On your mobile device, go to Play Store and tap on Settings.
Make sure that Auto-update apps is checked.
More importantly, make sure that Update over Wi-Fi only is also checked."

Glad you found a fix

is there a way to allow apps to only update when charging? or is that getting too greedy

I keep auto update off. That way I can review an update first and then update, either over wifi or 4g.

Well, I pride myself on laziness... and so, the sloth that I am wants technology to work for him, and not the other way around. ;)
Great thread, mates! Thanks so much!

Believe it or not:
Since i enabled "While charging only" for Google Photo uploads, my app updates also will be excuted when the battery is charged !

Try the following:

- Google Photo - Settings - Back up & sync
- Choose folders to back up...
- Enable "While eharging only"

Hope this hepls.
