If there some security feature that was added to Jelly Bean that doesnt allow it to be rooted? Just wondering because its been out for about 6+ months for Maxx HD and there is still no way to root in JB.

The easiest method I use is team epic recovery they made it by far the easiest way to error you're phone I don't know with the droids but the Samsung Galaxy's s III and the way they explain the instructions in the video in detail makes it that much more is a since Hayes go of to those guys great job . read up on it it just may work with Motorola.

I personally think that the Razr HD utility by Matt Groff is the best way to root the phone. You get the utility and then just run the program on your computer with the phone connected and follow the instructions. It will flash the phone and put custom recovery on it as well if you want it to. It really is an awesome program.
