I don't think that the signal is quite as good on ICS radio's but it seems to read the signal more like it does on my Gnex. The signal icon in the notification bar now reads my 3g signal and not my 1x signal (which is almost always better). In GB I believe that the signal icon in the notification bar would read whatever band had the best signal. I am not in a 4g so I don't know how well that signal is yet.
Mine is significantly weaker. No 4g signal at home. Used to get 2 or 3 bars of 4g at the gym. This morning no data connection the entire time. Signal is the only complaint I have with ics, hopefully it works its way out.

The Motorola radios was the reason that I bought this phone. The RAZR was getting signal just about everywhere I went now it only is a few db's lower than my nexus. I really wish there was a way back to gb.
I seem to have better radio. Not by bars or signal strength but by how it has been working. Its been a lot more stable and not going between LTE and 3G.
I've been rocking full bars since the upgrade. My data connection hasn't dropped even once yet, which is great, because that was kind of pissing me off on GB.
Before my rezound was about 5 to 7 dbs better than my maxx. Now about 15 dbs different but still showing same bars. Rezound at -79 db and maxx at -95 side by side with maxx with one less bar. Rezound is on the ICS leak and my wifes Rezound isnt, and both Rezounds are equal in signal strength. Rezound's always have had better signal and download speeds.
Maxx is still cruising along though. No drops at all yet.
Better 4g signal than ever before. Getting better/stronger service after the upgrade with much better speeds. All in all, ics has smoothed out my data drops, haven't had one yet, 4g has been stronger than ever before. Thanks ics!
My reception dropped a bit since the update. I was hovering around -80 to -90dBm and now I'm at -100dBm or worse. OP might be right, bars are more accurate now than before; it used to show 4 bars consistently and now it's 2 bars.
Don't go by bars, go by db. The strength is the same.

You can't even go by the decibels on ics. On 3g, look in the about phone area, it should show 1x and 3g....and different decibel readings. On 4g, its gonna have a worse signal than the other 2.
In the exact same location I have seen 1x at-78, 3g at -85 and 4g at-95. No speed drop off for 4g going from gb to ics.
The bars and decibels are gonna be different than when on gb. With 4g showing more accurately.

I noticed my bars seem to be close to the same, but dbs are up 10 dbs. I see what your saying though.
I've notice my DB has really improved went from 82 to 87 now being 70 to 78 inside the house and speed seems better. Of course I'm coming from a G/N that barely got 92 to 95 in same house so I traded for the Maxx what a difference.
Though my bars appear to be lower it just occurred to me that today at work I was using 4G inside the same building that I normally, barely use 3g. I used the web quite a few times on 4G in there today and it worked fine. Could a better radio and more ram being used than before, be contributing factors to my lower battery life? Hmmm.
