Is it possible to fully root an xt1080 4.4.4 su6-7.7 that has developer mode?

Hello, firstly I am new to rooting anything. I recently found my old droid maxx xt1080 4.4.4 su6-7.7 that is developer edition(?). I would like to root it if possible. I have researched up and down, some say it can/has been done while others say its not possible. I have found a root method for this phone but it only works with su6-7.0. So I'll ask the question that's been asked many times because I've yet to find a definitive answer. Can it be rooted? If so can someone kindly steer me in the right direction? Please and thank you. Also, I have factory reset the phone and enabled developer mode.
