It could be ported. We now have an Epic Kernel, so its possible. Some things may not work off the bat and may need round-about fixes, which can only be found after putting it on a device (why we have alpha/beta releases).

I'd rather see devs work on vanilla gingerbread rather than porting a beta version of TW Froyo. Samsung said they will get FroYo out to us before the end of september, correct?

NO, they didn't. SamsungUK said they'd get Froyo out to UK Galaxy S phones by September.

I can wait being as eclair is pretty nice. But I want gingerbread on this phone at a competitive time and not one of the last phones to get it. I guess this means that VZW will be releasing their galaxy s phone soon or are they waiting for froyo. Hmm I wonder why they are holding theirs back...

I agree, I'd rather deal with a stable version.
