FROYO ROM

2.2.1 EC05 "Phoenix" II [Journaled]
From the ashes of RandomROM Plus, Phoenix rises.

EC05 AIO Volume/Hotspot/Lockscreen
The first rom to combine ALL of these great mods!

Updated 11/29/2011
Updates, Important Notices, and General Information Posted Here!
I'd like to extend a special thank you to anyone who has donated!

I maintain RandomROM as a distribution across multiple forums. As such, the bulk of the information, details, etc. is maintained on my site. Rest assured, the links below will take you to aforementioned site where you will find all of the information you require regularly updated on how to use this rom. No subscription required. Always free (donations appreciated, never required). All of my roms, mods, themes, guides, etc. can be found on this easy to navigate site as well as my blog for upcoming updates. As always, I will still answer questions here.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, divorce, bankruptcy, acne, etc. Please do some research if you are a first time flasher BEFORE flashing this rom. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me if something goes wrong with your device, I will laugh. By downloading, you agree to have read all pertinent information provided and to accept any and all responsibility subsequently.

Home Of The AIO Mod For EC05.
I have updated and merged necrosan's wifi tether mod and mkasick's volume rocker mod together, as they change the same framework.jar. This means that Sprint Hotspot will work freely without an additional Wifi Tether app, and that your volume rocker can now seamlessly transition from silent, to vibrate, to loud. Included in this conglomeration are also maddoggin's lockscreen mod. This will currently remain known as the AIO mod, and version 1 is the latest. It is included in the Phoenix Blue EC05 theme.

To any rom/theme developers: Feel free to utilize this mod but be sure to reference myself and all aforementioned developers involved. It took a lot of time and effort to make these great features play nicely and it's important to keep the original creators in the loop.

Why Should You Use RandomROM?

Alternate names considered: BatteryROM, BurningROM
This rom is a personal hobby of mine to maintain the greatest battery life that I can. I've scoured the forums searching for the newest and greatest tweaks, mods, etc. to include, and then carefully tested them all for battery performance. I've also made additional changes and additions all my own. As such, this rom has compiled the excellent work of many great developers into my own ideas and configurations. Contained within are many useful apps pre-installed as well as an effort to replicate my exact setup which has yielded me 1-2% battery loss per hour maximum when idle!

All included apps have been RandomKing-Approved to conform with the best battery usage. I'm always on the lookout for more tweaks, possible thematic changes, etc., however this version is the last major revision last based on EC05. There should be no issues, but should I happen to find one, I may simply release a patch or quietly switch out the upload version.

Many of you have complained that others achieve much better battery life. The goal of RandomRom is to provide MY setup that's provided me with great battery life. Further details possibly important details will be made available in post 2. Any other information can be found on my site along side the download links.

Quick Updates, Notices, Fixes, Etc!

You've got questions, here's some answers!

When should I use the AIO mod?
  • If you're on a rom that doesn't have it, or you flashed an EG22 theme that doesn't include it.
How do I update my SuperUser Binary?

  • Check out this link and Rodderick will save the day.
    Or remove the update.
How do I use my own ringtone, alarm, and notification mp3s?
  1. Create a folder on your SD card called "media".
  2. Inside of that create "audio".
  3. Inside of that create:
    • "ringtones" for ringtones.
    • "alarms" for alarms.
    • "notifications" for notifications.

Doesn't require voltage control, I don't use it to achieve great battery life. But you could use it however you'd like.

Like dtm_stretch said, superfreeze uses the pm disable command to freeze those three services just like Titanium Backup would. "Su" gains superuser rights, and I've turned several long commands into the simple command word "superfreeze." I've determined through experimentation that those 3 are the biggest unnecessary battery drains.

If you're on a custom rom, you generally can't update anything but your prl. If you enter "superdefrost" it will unfreeze the same services "superfreeze" froze at any time.

SNS stands for social networking service, it works for things like integrating facebook into your contacts.

Re: [ROM] RandomROM 2.2 vers.4 [Journaled] EC05 :: (Updated 6/23)

I downloaded this rom. I can't seem to install any apps from the market. When it's installing, the phone resets itself. Any reason for that?

Never seen that before. Try wiping data and re-flashing. If it persists, your .zip may be corrupt. Try re-downloading.

:D

Yeah, I tried wiping it several times and installing it and I got the same thing with the rebooting when it finished downloading the apps from the market. I'll give your suggestion a whirl.

Another question. I've never used the terminal thingie before. How do you input the commands because when I tried, it said that I lacked permission.

Thanks!

You have to type su first to gain superuser rights.

Tired it out and still the same thing. It resets when it gets to installing the app from the market. And when I tried opening mybackup, it says that I'm not rooted. I don't get that.

Well that's an interesting result. What CWM are you on? Does any other rom install properly?

Re: [ROM] RandomROM 2.2 vers.4 [Journaled] EC05 :: (Updated 6/23)

I've seen this reboot/boot looping from a ROM before. I had this issue when I was doing the no journaling version of ACE ROM. I could never pin point what was causing it. I had two exact versions of ACE, one journaled one not. Only difference was in the install scripts. Anytime I would try to install from Market or sdcard as soon as it went to install it would vibrate a few times then go into a boot loop. Then it was fine again until you tried to do the same thing again.

Logcat results would show right where it started boot looping, but like I said I could never really narrow down what was causing it.

I can't be sure. I've successfully tested this rom on my wife's, my mother in law's, and my own Epic without this issue.
