the front camera cuts into the screen

Since the Essential phone's screen is interrupted, so to speak, by the front camera, how does this affect things:
1. notifications?
2. if the user opens an image and makes the image full-screen, will the side of the image be cut into by the front camera?
In other words, will the front camera always be cutting into on-screen things (apps, images, etc.)?

According to the explanation given by Andy Rubin in the video posted elsewhere, the screen is a 16:10 ratio including the space around the camera. The notifications fall outside the normal 16:9 video parameters. That means most apps aren't actually going to require the space on either side of the camera, and you won't actually be losing anything, as apps and videos will still be full resolution. Presumably that edge will just be black when a full screen app is running.

Also notifications expand from the sides, not the center, so you should still be able to see all of them, as the center of the notification bar is typically blank.
