This is the first low light shot of my lake that I have taken with the stock app since the newest update. It is better than previously. Top third center, you can even see the spider's legs. That would never happen before.

Edit: maybe not on the spider on the upload. Much better on the phone.

Took these last night in Kunming, China. I was holding my hand very steady for each shot. With my iPhone 6S+ I can snap them in a split second. So there is a long way to go. Still, it's an improvement.

Few different pics from hikes - taken with the stock app and no retouching. IDK, with the recent updates I have been quite surprised at how well the camera is performing, especially in high contrast scenes (had an LG G4 before this which had a very good camera and full manual controls, and still had contrast and whiteout issues that are largely absent here). Still want more options and am considering the Google Camera APK; loaded Manual Camera and will test that out.

Thinking of trading in my LG G6 for an Essential phone... I'm almost exclusively using the Gcam on my G6 unless I'm using manual mode or wide angle.

Anyone here on a PH-1 after using a G6, any comparison in the cameras?

If I got a PH-1 I think I'd sideload Gcam and maybe use other third party apps like FV-5 cam. How is FV-5 cam for manual controls on the Essential?

The monochrome camera takes consistently good pics, even in less than ideal lighting conditions. Results are more mixed with the color sensor. You'll get pics ranging from great to just ok depending on lighting. Low light is still inconsistent. The G6 looks better in situations where OIS makes a difference. The ported Gcam was definitely needed before all the recent updates but now the difference is less noticeable.

First 2 images, I wish I would have tried the monochrome mode for the outside shot. If better quality than this is needed I'll use the DSLR. I'm good with these for phone pics.
