So phone arrived. Powers on. Charger plugged in and changing. WiFi connected. Start setup of google account stuff and phone dies!

Dead.. Not charging...did all the trouble shooting stuff and it's dead.

Called Amazon support and they are quick and excellent. Can do an exchange only issue is out of stock...so I ask you are getting more stock? Oh yes and you will be issued another . So hold this phone and do not do a return refund and due exchange when in stock and you maintain your prime day price. 32 days to do so.

Received email to confirm all this. Best customer service I have ever encountered with e-commerce.

    So now we wait....

That's why I usually buy phones from Amazon. They have a great return/exchange policy and dealing with customer service is a pretty simple process.

The only question is "will they get restocked within 32 days?"

that's the big question. spoke to support this morning and she put me on hold for a bit and went to speak with a fulfilment manager and came back to say a request to restock has not yet been made. but that does not mean that it will not be.

so I will check every few days and in meantime contact essential to see if can send in direct under warranty as I do like the phone.

Amazon is usually pretty good, the only problem I see is Essential getting parts from China and not being able to make phones - due to the tariff situation. Bit if it comes to that, Amazon will probably extend your 32 days to as long as it takes. One thing Jeff Bezos is not is cheap.

I feel I have to own up to something.

Bought the phone on Prime Day... sorta. Once the 250-ish deal was official, I ordered a white one and was put on the back order. I was actually a little leery. It had all the essential (boo, too easy a pun) things I wanted except a headphone jack which is not a deal killer. But the idea of buying a product from a practically dead company bothered me. I looked online, and have seen an update log of over 30 improvements. That should have set my mind at ease. I had heard on here that Essential was promising another year of support. That should have been it. Great hardware, once in a lifetime price, pure android, proven software support, what more could a guy want?

I chickened out. Cancelled the order. Missed all the other Prime Day deals in the process. Just couldn't commit to a company pulling out after being burned a few other times (Palm and Microsoft). Gut was telling me to bail, so I whimpered and did, mobile tail tucked between my legs.

Will keep an eye on this thread to see how dumb I feel over time. Hope this device proves me wrong. It was, in so many ways, a perfect phone. Hope all of you show how great it is as I settle for something in the basic price range and 1/2 the phone the PH-1 is.

I bought a black ph-1 on black Friday. Bought a white one on Prime Day. White delivered quickly and wife loves it. Ordered a Halo Gray for son which is due 8/1. Also bought 3 cameras, cases and HD audio from Essential. Bargains all. Running Android 9 beta on my ph-1 with few problems. Phone + camera + audio earphones was almost $900 at original list prices. At Prime Day prices, this setup is around $325. What a deal!

Kinda had the same feelings you did, but being as I bought it on impulse from my phone while I was on a business trip I got too busy to go back and reconsider or cancel. Now that it's here . . I love it. Works great, side-loaded the pixel camera app to solve that problem, seems really wierd to not check for software updates every once in a while because "oh yeah, I forgot, I have Oreo 8.1 and the July security update". Only thing I don't like is that it's such a premium feeling product I want to protect it with a case, but with a case on it's no longer a premium feeling product. So for the time being the case is off and I'm taking my chances . . If I drop it the pixel 3 will be out soon 😆

I posted a thread about reliability and performance and feedback has been there are QC problems with these phones, much as there were with the LG G6. So I'm curious to learn from forum members here how vast the QC problems are. Am seeing quite a few of these on Ebay and Swappa which is surprising given the phone didn't sell well..maybe that's the reason?
