Otterbox Commuter - rubber question

I've had the otterbox commuter for a bit and the inside rubber layer that goes between the phone and plastic shell has become a bit worn.

I was wondering if anyone knew a good, not too destructive way, to shrink the rubber back to it's original more form fitting size.

Could try the freezer.....but not sure if it will work as I have never done it.
