Updates for Samsung through Google Fi?
I see that Google Fi is selling phones other than its own Pixel series. For anyone here that has a Samsung or Motorola phone bought from Google Fi and active on Google Fi, I have this question:
Are you getting updates to Android at the same rate/frequency as the Google Pixel phones?
I know my Pixel 4 XL got Android 11 nearly as soon as Google wrote it :D , and my Pixel 2 XL got the updates ASAP as well. My wife's Pixel 3a is also on the update curve, so I know that Google pushes out the updates to its own phones as fast as it can.
What I don't know is whether Google also pushes updates out to (for example) Samsung phones, or are they delayed as they first pass through the Samsung quality-inspection filter like all the rest of Samsung's phones on other carriers? My suspicion is that they are delayed, but I can't confirm this (and, of course, a call to Google said "they get updates at the same rate", which I find hard to believe).
Thanks for the information.
Re: Updates for Samsung through Google Fi?
The updates will still come from Samsung. Pixels are quick to receive the updates as they are stock Android with little modification. Samsung's OneUI is a heavy modded version of Android that takes time to push out. I have not had a Samsung phone is years, but I think they are getting better with updates
Re: Updates for Samsung through Google Fi?
They are quicker than they used to be. Security updates are usually quite fast but Android updates take months longer than pixels

Thanks - confirmed my suspicion that, if I want to stay on the bleeding edge, stay with Pixel.
