Strange phone call/problem

My wife got a phone call from an all 00000000 number saying it was an emergency call. She didn't answer the call, but the caller left a voice mail. When my wife tried to retrieve the message, her phone locked up asking for a password and it remained locked up. Tried power cycling and also a battery pull, but neither worked. Anyone else have this happen?

What does Verizon say about it? How did she try to retrieve the voicemail--through the normal voicemail system? Was there some other unfamiliar prompt to listen to the message that your wife may have tapped?

Verizon has no idea. She did try the normal voicemail retrieval. And yes, there quite possibly have been some weird prompt but she's not really sure (she is a non-techie type). The local Corp store did a factory reset and that seemed to unlock/restore the phone to normal. Kind of a weird occurance.
