Stumped by video playback error

Hello everyone, I would be grateful for some help.

The phone and OS:
- Vodafone smart ultra 6 (essentially a ZTE blade S6)
-Android 5.1.1

The problem:
For two weeks now I have been unable to play videos in several apps.
YouTube: sorry, this cannot be played right now please try again later. This was resolved eventually by clearing the cache.

BBC news app: sorry, this content doesn't seem to be working. Please try again later. This has not be resolved by clearing the cache.

I have tried everything (that I can think of). Turn on/turn off, unistall reinstall (including android system webview and apps). Clearing caches.

Videos in chrome work. Just not in the BBC news app.

Any and all help is gratefully appreciated!

Have you tried to backup and do a factory data reset
