I have a work phone and have not used a personal cell in a while. I am going to get a personal phone and cell plan to have in case I get laid off. I want to have my phone number already in the hands of my co workers and friends before I loose my work phone. I am looking at Project Fi and Nexus 6P. Does anyone one have advice on this? I am trying to keep the price of the plan at a minimum.

I started with 3GB plan but switched to 1GB after first month. I used less than 0.6GB of data. Month two looks to be about the same. Regardless of the plan you use you will be charged/credited for data you use. It is prorated $10 per GB. I'm very happy with it.
