Well... those jetpacks have the advantage of being a dedicated piece of hardware. Plug it in and you create a wifi network... yes, your phone has hotspot capability, but it has its disadvantages. First, it uses a fair amount of power.. your phone is not designed to act like a router, so it isn't necessarily the most efficient. Second, you have to toggle it on and off, the jetpack is ready to go once you turn it on. And lastly, if your hotspot is on, your phone's WiFi adapter is dedicated to acting as a router so you are then switched over to mobile AND you are sharing your mobile connection between the phone and whatever device you are connecting with.
If you are someone who uses that hotspot a lot.. heavily and every day... one of those jetpacks will make life a little bit easier I would think.
