Connecting Samsung Galaxy Tablet to Amazon Echo Dot

So Bluetooth is garbage for me so I went and bought a 3.5mm to 3.5mm and tried connecting my tablet to it cia headphone slot. No sound coming from the Dot. When I searched online, all it gave me was connect to it via Bluetooth which, obviously, is not helpful.

Looking at the Amazon product page for the 3rd-generation Dot it seems that's audio OUTPUT, not input...
