Bluetooth use

Just purchased a Samsung galaxy active 2 watch to use with my Samsung a71, and as a silver surfer totally new to this tech, I have a question.
Is it safe to leave bluetooth activated on phone and watch when out and about. Phone is usually in handbag and I don't hear notifications or calls, which is why I've bought the watch, but worried about bluetooth being activated all the time. Is it ok to do this?
