Since LG no longer makes phones & is becoming problematic; is anyone else making a decent phone with a 24 bit dac? I would prefer something I could get on Swappa used due to my budget.

Try giving the Asus ROG phones a look. The current 5s has a headphone jack powered by a 32-bit ESS Hi-Fi DAC. I'm in a similar boat with LG (but not on TMO and avoided that), and that may be my next phone.

Maybe look at Sony as well... But I'm not sure.

Honestly, if you really care about high-resolution portable audio and stuff it might be worth just investing in a portable music player. Trying to get this with phone's, you are standing on a sinking ship.

My other suggestion would be to look into a standalone DAC that you could attach to the USB port of the phone.

I'm not up to date on audio technology, but my Xiaomi Poco F2 phone from 2020 s advertised as Hi Res Audio certified, and has this switchable mode in the Sound settings.

The specs on GSM Arena say it is 24 bit 192 khz audio.

Many of their mid and higher end phones have Hi Res certification, just like many manufacturers.
Now there's also Dolby Atmos audio certificated phones which often have Hi Res certification as well.

I love the sound on my newly replaced Grado Headphones.

I don't know if this means my phone has a 24 bit DAC built in. I don't need a USB C adapter as it has a 3.5mm jack.

Now I don't know if I can buy another phone such as the Galaxy A52s 5g which is not Hi Res certified, and use a DAC adapter through the USB C port to get an equally good sound, even though it has a standard headphone jack too. That doesn't make complete sense to me.

However I also bought another Xiaomi mid range model (Mi 10 Lite 5G) just prior to succumbing to the Poco F2's wiles and it is specified as 24 bit / 192 khz audio but is not Hi Res Certified. I still have it and prefer the more integrated sound of the Hi Res phone.

All my music is from ripped CD music albums.

Which Grados do you have? I learned about those through Dankpods on YouTube, but got the Samson SR850 (or as he would say, "eight fitties") instead, and really enjoy them.

SR - 80x bought two months ago. Better cabling so they won't distort and better / different drivers and improved headband.
You may know the build quality and / or design had always been a weak point on these lower end models, there is the base SR-60x and then the SR 125.

Great old NY company. They replaced the cables in the UK FOC on my original SR - 80 set. Then I got the later SR - 80e whose cables also twisted until I became twisted in frustration and they became unusable. Partly as I used those and the original model on my TV as well with an extension!

These SR 80x 's are terrific for me. Hardly used them yet. Needed bedding in, and still takes 30 minutes to sound detailed but are terrific. If I had the money and a high end source I would try the mid range and top tier models - but I'm happy with these. They leak like crazy so in a hotel room the neighbours think you have the TV on full blast.

I always had Sennheisers before Grado. I haven't heard of Samson SR850 but will look them up.

I won't see further posts until tomorrow

    Those Grados seem nice.

I wonder how either the Samson or Grado compare to the Beyerdynamic DT770 I have.

The Beyerdynamics will most likely be much better, but they're 80 Ohms, so they probably don't work too well connecting directly into a phone or other mobile device without an amp, right? The Samsons are 32 Ohms, so they work just fine plugging straight in. They're definitely on the budget side in terms of price, but their big selling point is the quality of the sound compared to the low price.

I have a pair of Grado Statements GS2000e (the wood ones) that I got in 2016. They have that Grado signature sound but I feel like my Sennheiser HD660s have a more natural sound that I tend to prefer.

Yes, I do use a headphone amp with the Beyerdynamic.

I'm curious what headphone Amp you use with your Beyers. My desk amps are the OPPO HA-1and Woo Audio SA-6se (gen 2) tube amps while mobile duty is deferred to the DragonFly Red. The desk amps, admittedly, don't get a lot of use but they're enjoyed. The DragonFly Red is a good little mobile amp but there are even better options in today's market.

    I have the iFi Hip-dac2.

For desktop I use the Audioengine D1, but it doesn't get as much use.
