ringtone to notification conversion no loop

i recently modded to cm7 on my optimus s and i wanted a different sound for my notifications. came accross a problem. i copied a ringtone (thunderfoot) to the notification folder in system/media/ringtone using root explorer, it worked but it loops constantly until i check the message. i found that i can edit text and i noticed that i can delete the android_loop true, tried changing it to false but then the file wasnt recognized. how can i keep the .ogg file from looping? sorry if this is to specific a device but i diddnt think it would be just android specific. any imput appreciated thanks.
