Hi Guys. I'm planning on flashing a custom ROM to my phone, but I'm scared that I might screw something up. I have some experience with "light" hacking. I've jailbroken a few of my friends' apple devices, and I rooted my old Palm Pre. However, I feel like I might make a small mistake and ruin the whole process. So basically, I'm wondering what can go wrong when I try to flash Cyanogen onto my Captivate. Thanks :)

If the ROM was developed for your phone and you follow the instructions to flash it you'll be fine. Remember to wipe/factory reset, backup and install the gapps file afterwards since you'll be using Cyanogen Mod.

Hard to brick when flashing a rom.
You might brick it flashing hboot or radio but not the rom itself.
Also remember to nandroid backup before flashing a new rom
