My g1's home key and green dial key wont work.

Yesterday my phone froze on me. It would not turn off so i decided to take the battery out. After that i inserted the battery again, and turned it on. After doing so i tried pressing my home key and my green dial key and they would not work. Im thinking some software file was deleted. Is there anyway to make these keys work again without factory resetting your phone. Thanks for your help guys i appreciate it.
