Was this an update? Why just mine?

My Samsung Replenish had an update last night, it restarted itself after I hit Okay and did its thing. When it booted back up normally, a lot of the appearance was way different. The status bar, instead of being gray is now black, the three buttons at the bottom, (phone, apps, ID) are colored differently, as are many other things. Even different apps from different companies have slight changes in appearance.

This is all fine, my question is why didn't my parents' two phones do the same thing? If this was really an update, wouldn't theirs have done the same thing? So was this an update or something else?

It was the update to gingerbread. Updates roll out slowly in waves and if all is ok it will be pushed soon

I know with the Inspire the GB update took like a month for everyone to receive, and it was really random as to who got it when.
